When Daniel Radcliffe was cast as Harry Potter at the age of 11, he didn’t have any clue that a day will come when he will be one of the wealthiest figures in showbiz!
Radcliffe, 27, has conjured up a tremendous £64 million net worth. His company, Gilmore Jacobs, published his accounts and disclosed that it is now holding £63.9 million. That figure is £4.5 million more than what it was in the year 2015. This information suggests that he was Britain’s largest-earning actor this year. The disclosed account details did not report turnover and also omitted payments made to Radcliffe, who is supposed to have invested a major part of his earning in properties, stocks and shares.
This year he appeared in the thriller genre, Now You See Me 2 and Imperium, as well as in the comedy genre, Swiss Army Man.
The accounts reported that his business holds £19.8 million in fixed asset investments, while £22.9 million in current asset investments, and £3.3 million in a tangible asset; apart from holding cash of £8.7 million and being owed £10.2 million.
Daniel Radcliffe’s parents, Alan, a literary agent, and Marcia Gresham, a casting agent, both set up the company in the year 2000, a year before their son played the famous role of boy wizard in the first film of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone.
The privately educated actor revealed earlier this year that he never really spent his money. ‘I don’t really do anything with my money,’. ‘I’m very grateful for it because having money means you don’t have to worry about it, which is a very lovely freedom to have. It also gives me immense freedom career-wise.’ He elaborated that his wealth permitted him to appear on stage and in low-budget, innovative movies: ‘For all the people who’ve followed my career, I want to give them something to be interested in, rather than just make loads of money on c**p films for the rest of my life.’
Daniel Radcliffe made his acting debut when he was ten years of age in 1999 for a television film, David Copperfield. This was followed by his cinematic debut in 2001, The Tailor of Panama. It was only after these appearances that he was cast as Harry Potter.
