The Comic Book adaptation Cowboy Ninja Viking finally found its director in Michelle MacLaren.
This project is not Michelle’s Debut work; she has proved her mettle with shows like Game of Thrones, ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘Westworld’ and, ‘The Deuce’.
Winner of two Emmy awards, Michelle MacLaren was previously considered for Wonder Woman, but due to artistic differences she preferred to stay away from the project, was later replaced by Patty Jenkins.
Well, this time Michelle outran two competitors, Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 3) and Rick Famuyiwa (Dope).
She has also directed indie thriller Population 436, starring Jeremy Sisto and Fred Durst.
The project of Cowboy Ninja Viking started in 2014, with Chris Patt as the main lead.
But since then there’s hardly any development on the movie until now.
Cowboy Ninja Viking is based on the 2009 comics title created by A.J. Lieberman and illustrated by Riley Rossmo, is centred on an assassin named Duncan, designed by a counter-intelligence unit Known as Triplets.
He is the most powerful of the assassins with a combo package of a cowboy, a ninja, and a Viking.
But the plot takes an interesting turn after the Tripletts program falls apart and the superhero Duncan gets the responsibility to hunt the rogue triplets who have become contract killers.
And may I tell you all that the project was first assigned to Disney in 2010, setting Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the script.
But the esteemed production house Disney dropped the film in 2012.
And guess who leaped at the chance, none other than Universal Studios!
Now, the power-packed team is all set to set the screen on fire with their latest flick.
Can’t wait to see the movie.
