Olivia Jade is a 20-years-old YouTuber and Lori Loughlin’s daughter. She has over 1.3 million followers on Instagram. Jade has joined the fight against racism. She urged her followers to better understand their “White Privilege” so that racism no longer exists.
Recently she has posted stories on her Instagram addressing the nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd on Sunday.
She says, “Not being racist is not enough.”
Along with this, she has said so many other things that really matter. Her words are powerful and important.
She wrote, “If you hear people saying disrespectful things. CORRECT THEM. Don’t sit there & allow this to continue happening.” “[And if] someone saying something like ‘no one is around that it offends.’ Or ‘It’s a joke’ IT SHOULD OFFEND all of us because it’s outright wrong and disgusting that humans talk/treat other HUMANS the way we’ve seen. Explain how it’s not funny at all. How actually ignorant it sounds. How uneducated you sound when u [sic] are undermining what black people had had to deal with for generations. Speak up!!!”
If we do these things then there will be no chance for racism to exist in a few years. Sure, there are many people who carry racist behavior. But it can be changed, and it matters if we stop someone from being racist even when no one is around.
Later Olivia Jade added the following in her stories.
As a person who is born into privilege based on my skin color & financial situation, I was not always aware that these issues were still so present. And that makes me feel awful. But that also fuels me.
Learn more and do more and be better for all my beautiful black friends and any other person who faces discrimination.
She continued: “I’m not racist and I never have been but I need to speak up about this because just not being racist isn’t enough. It out rages [sic] me. It makes me feel sick. It brings me to tears. THERE SHOULD NOT BE SUCH A GAP BETWEEN PEOPLE LIKE THIS.”
But people did not take Olivia’s support as a positive movement online. People bashed her and called her “definition of white privilege” and accused her of being “tone deaf.”
This backlash happened because her parents pled guilty to charges stemming from the college admissions cheating scandal.
One of the guys tweeted the following for Olivia Jade.
“No one wants to hear your take on white privilege, no one.”
Many other tweets were made against her. Here are some of them.
‘Olivia Jade on IG going on about white privilege… you mean the thing that’s keeping your parents out of jail and that fake got you into USC? I just can’t,’ one user tweeted.

Which was caught on camera, Floyd was handcuffed and pleading for his life while a police officer named Derek Chauvin kneeled on the back of his neck, which made Floyd unable to breathe.
