The first time when Joe Manganiello saw Sofia Vergara, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. The only thing holding him back from asking the gorgeous woman out to dinner was that at that time she was engaged to entrepreneur Nick Loeb. But the fate intervened and two weeks later, the two-year relationship was called off. Now, there was nothing that was going to stop him from sweeping the woman of his dreams off her feet.
The Magic Mike star called up Jesse Tyler Ferguson, their mutual friend, and asked for Sofia’s number. Sofia Vergara was shooting in New Orleans, and the idea of dating someone so soon was far from her mind. But Joe was determined, and a few thousand miles were not going to stop him from taking out his perfect woman to dinner. And the rest is history!
The couple started dating in July 2014, and six months later during a trip to Hawaii, they got engaged on the Christmas Day. The sexy couple got married in December 2015 at The Breakers Palm Beach hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. The guests at the wedding included Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sofia’s uncle Hernando Vergara and Ariel Winter. The Breakers Pal Beach Resort is known for holding Romantic seaside ceremonies. With rooms starting at more that $600, the hotel was completely booked during the weekend.
The ceremony began at 7 pm. The bride was wearing the wedding gown designed by Zuhair Murad. The gown was a strapless, low-cut gown. Mark Zunino was responsible for handling the reception look. Sofia Vergara was wearing Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. Joe was wearing a black John Varvatos tuxedo. As Sofia’s 23-year-old son Manolo Gonzalez-Ripoll Vergara walked his mom down the aisle, the instrumental version of Amanda McBroom’s The Rose. She was accompanied by a little boy, who was the ring-bearer, in white and three flower girls with sparkly white frocks.
The couple exchanged their vows and said ‘I will’ instead of the traditional ‘I do’.
For the reception guests including Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan feasted on crab, lamb, and caviar for dinner. The 4-tier wedding cake was supplied by Sylvia Weinstock, New York.
Other celebrity guests included Sofia’s Modern Family co-star Ty Burell, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ed O’Neill, and Julie Bowen and Joe’s co-star Stephen Moyer. The weekend wedding festivities included a poolside party on Saturday, followed by a rehearsal dinner. The dessert party featured Joe serenading Sofia Vergara.
