Try Everything’ Star Shakira Have Something Awesome For Her Fans

Before Shakira gained an unprecedented international fame, she appeared on TV for the first time. Her TV debut was on a Colombian telenovela called ‘El Oasis’. How is this for a throwback Thursday? Recently Internet dug this gem of news out from the grave to surprise her worldwide fans! A video with “Hips Don’t Lie” singer starring on the teenage soap opera was culled out from the internet. The Try Everything hitmaker was a young girl of 17 when she got cast as “Luisa Maria Rico”, against actor Pedro Rendón. The soap opera was a Romeo and Juliet spin-off, which followed the love story between the children of two families which never got along well with each other.

The Colombian beauty sang the theme song and was, of course, the protagonist of the telenovela, El Oasis. However, in 2002, she bought the series rights to prevent it from airing ever again. Luckily for us, this hidden gem has found its way to the front from the depths of the internet again.

Shakira was fifteen years old when she graduated from high school, and it wasn’t long after graduating that she released ‘Peligro’, her second album. Peligro failed to win much attention just as her first debut album, Magia, had failed. It was after Peligro when this Try Everything star signed on as the protagonist in the Colombia telenovela, El Oasis. She remained with the cast for a year before she decided her true calling was music, despite the previous failures.

Shakira has won three Latin Grammy Awards; first for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, second for “Ojos Asi” from MTV Unplugged, 2000, and the third for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album, Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1, 2005. Shakira is also the recipient of American Music Award for favorite Latin artist, 2005, and six Latin Music Awards for “La Tortura” single, along with Alejandro Sanz, 2006. Shakira’s “Try Everything” Earned Platinum Honor in the United States a few months back.

Her singles “Hips Don’t Lie, “Try Everything” and “La Tortura” kept Shakira high up on the music playlists and radio airwaves across much of the world.
