2017 took a turn for the good in the New Girl star, Zooey Deschanel’s life, she is expecting her second child with her husband, Jacob Pechenik. The Hollywood couple is already proud parents of their first-born daughter, Elsie Otter Pechenik, who has had a major impact on their lives in the last two years.
Back in 2015, when Zooey Deschanel was pregnant with her first child, Elsie, the New Girl team tried very hard to keep the baby bump off the television screens. However, back then, the character she played on the show, Jessica Day’s pregnancy coincided with Zooey’s pregnancy. In January 2017, though, we can’t expect that to happen again. But this time Deschanel did not try to conceal her belly, which was fully visible in Los Angeles. But let’s see if subtle ways and tricks might help her keep the baby bump below the camera in the future. We are expecting a lot of seated-at-the-table scenes and folded hands scenes in the season 6, which is finished airing a few weeks ago.
Zooey and Jacob are yet to confirm and make the announcements about their expectations of the second child. The actress shared her struggles in efforts to balance work and family. She considers it a daily challenge to say goodbye to her daughter at home before leaving for the full day at work.
Zooey and Jacob announced she was pregnant with her first child on 14 January 2015. They announced their engagement in the same month. A month before the birth of Elsie, they tied the knot. Zooey Deschanel was married to musician Ben Gibbard for three years before getting a divorce in 2012.
In Ellen DeGeneres’ show, Zooey Deschanel revealed that in fact, she named her daughter, Elsie Otter, after the animal, Otter. She said she loved animals and otters are ”so cute, playful and fun”. We can’t wait to find out if their second child is going to be a baby girl or a baby boy! It will be even more interesting to discover who the duo will be naming their second child after, and if it’s going to be a cute panda or the lovely dolphin!
